How is Mess Food at NLU like?

Updated: Mar 27, 2023

In this blog I’ll talk about GNLU mess food. But first let me tell you the timings of Mess here.

Mess Schedule at GNLU

So food is served 4 times.

  1. Breakfast – 8 to 11 AM,

  2. Lunch – 1 to 3 PM,

  3. Snacks – 5 to 6.30 PM &

  4. Dinner – 8 to 9.30 PM.

The food is different on all days. Though my favorite is Aloo Paratha, which is served on Tuesdays and Saturday mornings.

Breakfast

For breakfast, different items such as Poha, Wada, Uttapam, & Dosa & Aloo Paratha are served.

There’s also a counter for boiled eggs and you can take as many as you want, free of cost. I used to take more than 8 eggs when I used to work-out.

Lunch

For lunch we used to get Onion Rice, Palaak Paneer, Kadhee & other dishes.

Lunch starts just after classes end. So after having food you can directly go to your rooms and have some rest.

Snacks

This used to be my favorite time of the day. I liked the days when we were served Samosa or Kachori. Just after having snacks I used to take a cup of tea and take a walk around the campus of GNLU with friends, enjoying the sunset. Good days!

Dinner

Finally dinner. I have got one picture of the day we were served Gajar ka Halwa.

In summers we used to get Aam Ras and on Wednesday we got Ice-Creams.

The best part about GNLU mess is you can take things as many times you want.

Conclusion

There’s a reason why mess food at GNLU is considered the best among all NLUs. The caterers are good-natured and there’s no restrictions on the number of times you take roti, sabji, ice-cream and so on.
